TP Positioners
for truly precise finishing
The Crystal Clear Choice.
TP Tooth Positioners
have proven to be the most exacting appliance to complete All methods
of orthodontic treatment. They can be used to correct mild malocclusions
with our pre-treatment.
The Tooth Positioner
is a custom-made, resilient mouthpiece with clearly defined impressions
of the upper and lower teeth. It is constructed over a set-up.
The set-up is a model of the patients teeth on which some or all
of the teeth have been removed and replaced in the exact positions they
should occupy.
When a Tooth Positioner
is worn for the final positioning of the teeth, it is possible to remove
the fixed appliances from three to six months earlier. Both patients and
orthodontists greatly appreciate the shorter active treatment times.
The cost of the custom
Tooth Positioners are minor when one considers the time saved by achieving
final, detailed positioning without adjusting and repairing fixed appliances.
There is no easier
way of finishing a case. The results are far superior to any that can
be obtained by leaving fixed appliances on and attempting to correct slight
spaces, rotations and buccolingual discrepancies. Teeth are brought into
ideal occlusion and arch form.
Accessories
Precision Seating
Springs
Picture Stainless steel retentive clasp arms moulded into the appliance
when fabricated. Smooth, ball shaped ends facilitate slipping around the
contact points and increase retention.
Picture When used, seating springs are usually placed in the upper arch
mesial to the maxillary first molars. The location of these springs may
vary according to the original malocclusion and/or the teeth that may
have been extracted.

Socket Liners
Picture Stainless steel inserts will stiffen socket walls of selected
anterior teeth, which may tend to relapse. They are moulded in place and
cannot fall our to alter the inside dimensions of sockets.
Socket liners are most effective 1. Preventing rotations of upper and
lower incisors 2. Achieving anterior corrections more rapidly 3. Influencing
arch form 4. Helping prevent anterior relapse 5. Restricting bite-through.
They can be used
on all, or selected central or lateral incisors.
Moulded Airways
Positioning appliances with moulded airways greatly improve patient acceptance
and co-operation. The three large rectangular anterior airway aid patients
breathing capacity. Patients with nasal blockages due to allergy, cold
or injury can breathe more normally through moulded airways. The smooth
interior walls can easily be cleaned.

Custom Hinge-Axis
Hinge-axis opening. The method permits construction of a tooth positioner
opened to the rest position within the patients own custom
hinge-axis.
How to prescribe
(Hinge-axis analysis sheets with instructions provided on request).
1. Indicate use of
custom hinge-axis
2. Include recent lateral head x-ray, or hinge-axis analysis sheet indicating
(a) centre of the condyler head
(b) occlusal plane
(c) incisal edge of the lower central incisors.

Patients and their
appliances should be checked at the end of each time period. Most corrections
are achieved in 2 weeks. After 6 months, most patients are placed on a
nighttime wearing schedule, and a 6 month recall basis. They are also
reminded to contact the office if any undesirable changes occur. Usually
a return to 1 2 hours of daytime (exercise) wearing will correct
any problems.
Exercise wear
involves
the patient tensing the masseter muscles and forcing his/her teeth into
the sockets. The biting force is held as long as possible. When the patient
relaxes, his or her mouth should remain closed, with the teeth seating
in the positioner. This is repeated over and over during the hours of
daytime wearing. Initially the patient will experience discomfort, and
will be able to exert pressure for only a short time. Gradually the muscles
will become developed, and biting pressures can be increased and maintained
for longer periods of time.
